1. Become A Friend Of The Library (Membership)

We have 6 Membership Levels below. Your tax-deductible membership contribution will entitle you to a one-year membership that includes our monthly newsletter, invitations to special events and periodic email updates. If you wish to join by mail, please pick up a membership card at the Harper or Barbee branches or send a check payable to FOLSOI at one of the listed membership levels and write membership in the memo line. Our address is below.

2. Make A General Donation

If you'd like to make a donation online, choose the General Donation option below.  If you prefer to send a donation by mail, make check payable to FOLSOI and send to the address below.

3. Donate Books, CDs, DVDs, Puzzles, and Vinyl Records Etc at the Once More Bookstore.

FOLSOI gratefully accepts donations of books, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and puzzles in good to excellent condition at our used book store called Once More Bookstore. It is located inside Southport Realty, 727 N. Howe St., Southport, Donation hours are Tuesday and Saturday 10 - noon. Look for the table and volunteers by the double white doors outside on the 8th Street side of Southport Realty. No text books, encyclopedias or magazines please. Shopping hours are Monday through Friday, 1 -3 PM and Saturdays 10 - noon.  please check our Book Sales page for any changes

Who We Are

The Friends of the Library of Southport and Oak Island (North Carolina) is a non-profit, tax exempt organization registered under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is dedicated to supporting the Southport and Oak Island Public Libraries, their missions and programs.  The Friends of the Library offers financial support for library programs, community outreach and facilities improvements, through activities such as book sales, other fundraisers and dues collection, ensuring that extra funding beyond the Libraries' regular budgets are protected and earmarked to enhance both the Harper Library and the Barbee Library's services.  The Friends of the Library organization aims to engage the community in library programs.  It seeks to upgrade the quality of library services by means of gifts, reading materials, collections, facilities and programs.
